Pennant Fever in the Autumn Air with ALCS, NLCS

We’re down to the final four teams in the 2026 MLB Postseason, with the National League Championship Series (NLCS) already underway, with Game 1 being decided on Sunday, with Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski dueling Dodgers Tarek Skubal in a 2-1 Brewers win in Milwaukee.

The first pitch in the American League Championship Series (ALCS) will come tonight (Monday) at Tropicana Field in Tampa, Florida as the upstart Rays welcome the Guardians in a truly unpredictable matchup in the Sunshine State (TBS, truTV, FS1, 8 EDT/7 CDT/6 MDT/5 PDT).

Tampa Bay (98-64) made the ALCS by sweeping the Aaron Judge-less Yankees after earning a bye in the ALWCS, while Munetaka Murakami and Chicago (84-78) secured an AL Wild Card berth, swept the Astros in the ALCWS (2-0) before losing to rivals Cleveland in the ALDS (3-2).

Chicago was tied for the highest odds to win the 2026 World Series (500/1), while Junior Camineiro and Tampa Bay opened at 80/1 to win the upcoming Fall Classic with Cleveland at 25/1.

Last season, 1B Freddie Freeman and Los Doyers won their second straight MLB championship, beating the AL champion Blue Jays in the 2026 World Series, who didn’t even make the 2026 MLB Postseason even though three of Toronto’s AL East counterparts did (TB, NYY, BOS).

Here are the ALCS and NLCS schedules (*Games 5, 6, 7 all if necessary). The eventual AL and NL champions will then meet in the 2026 World Series, scheduled to start on Friday, October 23.

AL, NL, World Series Winner Market Updates

Let’s do a multi-market update on trading numbers at the popular prediction markets for the 2026 American League Winner, the 2026 National League Winner, the 2026 World Series League Winner, and the 2026 World Series League MVP Winner, with the markets down to the final four.

Seeing Mookie Betts and the Dodgers and flamethrower Jacob Misiorowski and the Brewers in the NLCS is not a great surprise, but to see the Rays—who’ve never won or even been to a WS—and the White Sox (60-102 in 2025) in the ALCS is like seeing an penguin migration in Miami.

⚾American League Winner: The Tampa Bay Rays were trading at 62% with the underdog Cleveland Guardians at 40% in the American League Championship at Kalshi on October 11.

🏆In the ALCS MVP Winner? trade at Kalshi, the Rays Junior Camineiro (15%), Drew Rasmussen (10%), Jonathan Aranda (6.6%), and Yandy Díaz (5%) were top choices, followed by the Guardians slugger José Ramírez (4%), Chase DeLauter (2%), Gavin Williams (2%), and Jo Adell (2%).

⚾National League Winner: The Milwaukee Brewers were trading at 54% with the Los Angeles Dodgers at 47% in the National League Championship market at Polymarket on October 11 after Milwaukee’s Game 1 victory as Brice Turang delivered the game-tying dinger for the homeboys.

🏆The NLCS MVP Winner? market reveals a deep and fun one where any player can win with a big payout, more than likely if you can nail the winner. Milwaukee’s Brice Turang (33% up from 5%) and Shohei Ohtani (30%, up from 4%) and Mookie Betts (26%, up from 4%) led after Game 1.

LA’s Will Smith (18%), the Brewers’ Jackson Chourio (17%), LA’s Max Muncy (8%), Freddie Freeman (9%), and Tarik Skubal (7%), the Brewers William Contreras (7%), LA’s Kyle Tucker (6%) and Yoshinobu Yamamoto (6%, above), and Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski (1%), followed.

⚾World Series Winner: After the G1 win, the Milwaukee Brewers were at 34.8%, the NL champ Los Angeles Dodgers were trading at 34.3% with the AL champ TB Rays at 22% and the Cleveland Guardians at 12% in the Kalshi Pro Baseball Champion market ($122,695,794 vol., October 11).

Kalshi, Novig to Hold More Funding Rounds

Prediction markets Kalshi and Novig continue to raise capital as the prediction market landscape evolves, despite many legal cases still festering in many states.

Kalshi is reportedly in talks to raise another $1 billion in fresh funding with Sequoia Capital and Wellington Management, and is also said to be in talks to lead the round, with Tiger Global Management and Dragoneer Investment Group also reportedly in talks with Kalshi.

The Manhattan-based prediction market run by CEO Tarek Mansour and Luana Lopes Lara would be worth about $40 billion after this latest funding round. Sports betting or trading—whatever verb you prefer for your own personal narratives—makes up around 90% of Kalshi’s revenue.

Sports-only prediction market Novig—also drinking coffee in its Manhattan headquarters—is also reportedly in a round of capital-raising talks it expects to last until December, possibly with the intent of quadrupling the company’s valuation from $500 million (February 2026) to $2 billion.

Pantera Capital has been the financial catalyst behind Novig’s growth, leading a $75 million Series B funding round in February for the peer-to-peer sports platform. It is now helping with a new funding round in the summer and fall, sparked by the Sydney Sweeney ad campaign.

🔔The Earnings Calendar is still light for now as companies start to report Q3 earnings, with Unity Bancorp (UNTY) the only one reporting (before the bell) today, Monday, October 12.

🔔Tuesday, Goldman Sachs (GS), Wells Fargo (WFC), and Domino’s Pizza (DPZ) report before the opening bell—traders gave Goldman Sachs a 43% chance to beat quarterly earnings (Oct. 5)—with Citigroup/Citibank (C) and JPMorgan Chase (JPM) reporting after the closing NYSE bell.

🔔On Wednesday, it’s BlackRock (BLK) that will be reporting 3Q earnings after the closing bell. Traders at Polymarket were giving BlackRock a solid 93% chance of beating quarterly earnings.

📶On Tuesday, October 13, at 7 a.m. EDT (4 a.m. PDT), JPMorganChase will be publishing its 3Q results, followed by the earnings call at 8:30 a.m. EDT (5:30 a.m. PDT), with consensus estimates that the company will be reporting a projected GAAP Earnings Per Share (EPS) of $5.88.

NCAAF Week 7: Best Saturday of the Season

The NCAAF College Football Week 7 schedule couldn’t be any better if it tried this Saturday, October 17, with at least a dozen great games on the menu in what will be a win-or-cry day for two dozen or so DI teams with College Football Playoff (CFP) implications, even this early in October.

🔴One matchup is #8 Florida at #1 Texas at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas, in an SEC showdown which lost some luster when the Gators were blasted at Missouri in Week 5. The Florida vs. Texas traders at Kalshi liked WR Cam Coleman and Texas (72%) over Missouri (28%).

Other SEC battles brewing: #2 Georgia hosting Auburn in Athens, Georgia; #7 Alabama at #17 Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee; and #25 Missouri at #9 Ole Miss in Oxford, Mississippi; #16 Mississippi State at #11 LSU in Baton Rouge; and #24 Kentucky at Oklahoma in Norman.

🟠 Besides the #5 Ohio State-#6 Indiana headliner, which we will preview next issue, the Big Ten Conference surprisingly only has two other games involving Top 25 teams this Saturday: #15 Oregon hosting Nebraska in Eugene and #23 UCLA welcomes Wisconsin to Westwood.

🟡No. #14 Iowa and #18 USC are both idle. Penn State’s loss to much-improved Northwestern at its impressive new purple-glowed Ryan Stadium 4 dropped the Nittany Lions from the AP and Coaches rankings, as did Michigan’s loss at Minnesota in the Little Brown Jug game in Week 5.

🟢In the Big 12, #10 BYU (4-0) hosts CJ Carr and independent #3 ND (4-0) in a game between undefeated teams in the Wasatch Mountains we preview below. Colorado gets #13 Utah (4-0) in Boulder as the Utes look to stay perfect, and #12 Texas Tech battles ASU at home in Lubbock.

🔵In Utah vs. Colorado, QB Devon Dampier (9 TD/INT) and Utah (92%-8% Kalshi) are the side to back as the Utes are a perfect 5-0-0 ATS this season (14-4-0 L18 ATS) while the Buffaloes started 1-4-0 ATS (5-11-1 L17 ATS). Utah (10.3 PPG, #3) plays D; Colorado (25.4 PPG, T-#87) leaks oil.

🟣 And in the last of the Power Four conferences, the Atlantic Coast (ACC), #4 Miami (4-0) welcomes FSU to Hard Rock Stadium for a Sunshine State rematch of a game won 28-22 by the Hurricanes. Virginia is at #21; SMU and the winner may face Miami in the ACC Championship? No.

📟Trading Thoughts: Don’t get caught up in the excitement of the day and bet or trade on too many of these games, but be selective and make some time to take in at least what is going on on the other screen (the game) and learn about teams and players, and they come and go in the NIL winds.

🏈NCAAF Week 7 Saturday Side Pick: Utah -7.5

➠”n the next issue of The Prediction Report, we will headline the start of MLB’s ALCS and NLCS series, look at Kalshi and Novig holding new funding rounds, look at the weekly Earnings report calendar with the big banks reporting on Tuesday, do a quick wrap of the biggest NCAAF Saturday of the season next week with a #3 ND at #10 BYU preview, and look at the Rams at Bills game on Monday Night Football.”
